Description : "The first influx of Mediterranean water into the Black Sea lake occurred about 7700 calendar years ago (cal. yr; 7.7 cal ka) (Jones and Gagnon, 1994; Arthur and Dean, 1998). Therefore, most of the Quaternary sediments on the bottom of the Black Sea are lacustrine."
